On Friday the Events and Venues team went to Stanbrook Abbey in Worcestershire, where we were welcomed by the lovely Sales Manager who showed us around the whole venue. We had some drinks in George’s Bar, followed by a delicious 3 course dinner in The Pugin Room.
Dating back to the early 16th century, Stanbrook Abbey is a former monastery, which lives on through the original architecture – from the dramatic stone cloisters to the gothic stained-glass windows. The hotel boasts 55 beautifully appointed bedrooms enabling guests to experience a unique taste of what life in an abbey was once like. Built by the renowned architect Augustus Pugin, one of the highlights of this Grade II listed country house hotel is the beautiful Callow Great Hall. The former chapel and place of worship located in the heart of Stanbrook Abbey offers a stunning backdrop for any occasion. Set in 26 acres of extensive gardens this venue is only 5 miles from Worcester and 5 miles from the M5 motorway.
Saturday we traveled up to the Jury’s Inn Hinckley Island where we were met by Sharon and Jamie from the sales team who showed us around the whole venue. We then used the leisure facilities, which include a swimming pool, spa pool, steam room and sauna. This was followed by dinner in the Marco Pierre White Restaurant for some well earned steaks!
The hotel has been transformed following a recent £11 million pound investment programme, including the updating of the 362 spacious bedrooms – which now all feature a Jurys Inn DREAM bed. The restaurant has been re-branded to Marco Pierre White with a menu that features modern classics served in a wonderfully relaxing room. The redesigned bars and public areas offer Costa Coffee and are ideal for just relaxing or an informal meeting. The hotel is just off the M1, M6 and M69 motorways, and is short drive to both Birmingham and East Midlands Airports.
